Optic Neuritis

Patient Details:
Male, 31 years old

Problem Faced:
He lost his vision completely due to optic neuritis. During partying with friends, he drank whisky combining methyl alcohol which resulted in optic neuritis due to the toxic effect of the methyl alcohol. After a few hours of drinking, he started vomiting and it did not stop with conventional medications. Subsequently, he was admitted to the hospital where the detoxification procedure was carried out, and his life was saved but till that time he lost his vision completely. He was not even able to visualize the light. He tried very hard to regain his vision but ultimately the doctors concluded that he would not regain back his vision.

Treatment Adopted:
His assessment was done based on the Acupuncture diagnosis procedure including pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, and enquiring. Based on diagnostic findings the acupuncture treatment plan was worked out and diet and lifestyle corrections were suggested. He was advised to have 20 sessions of acupuncture treatment on alternate days. After 15 days the same course was repeated.

Result:
After the first course of the treatment, he regained his vision partially. Initially, he could view the light and then he could identify big objects in daylight. After the second course of the treatment, he regained his normal vision and he could perform his daily routine comfortably. After checking doctor confirmed that he regained 90% vision.
